Criminal Investigations

Being accused of a crime that you did not commit is a serious matter. The polygraph has been used for years to help wrongfully accused fight these false allegations. Lawyers employ polygraphists to assist in these cases time after time. In New York City the District Attorney’s offices have often told Defense Attorneys;

“If your client can pass a polygraph exam conducted by a legitimate Certified Polygraph Examiner, come back and talk to us and we will review the case.”

I have helped numerous clients fight these wrongful allegations successfully. My background in the New York City Police Department as a 1st Grade Detective has helped me lead Attorneys in a direction that ultimately assists you with your case. Not every case is the same and it takes someone who has investigated a multitude of various serious crimes to pinpoint what has been over looked or incorrect with your case.

The percentage of convictions that are wrongful remains hotly contested, but the best available studies suggest a wrongful conviction rate of somewhere in the range of two to five percent in capital cases.  Noncapital cases have not been studied as carefully, although it is at least plausible that error rates would be higher in lower-profile cases in which fewer resources are invested into the adversarial process.  Whether error rates are significantly different in plea-bargained cases also remains a mystery.

A suggestive 1996 study by the National Institute of Justice revealed that in “every year since 1989, in about 25 percent of the sexual assault cases referred to the FBI . . . the primary suspect has been excluded by DNA testing.”
